Lost Pets

Sometimes pets get lost. The best insurance you can have is a Brevard County Animal License.  If you and your pet are ever separated an Animal License is the best way to find the owner.

If this should happen to you, follow these steps:

  • Talk to your neighbors to see if they have seen your pet.
  • Call the nearest veterinarian office to see if you pet has been taken there.
  • Visit our shelters websites to see if your pet has been taken there.
  • Call and/or visit all the shelters in Brevard County.

Sometimes in may take a day or two for your pet to be found and appear at one of the shelters.  Don't give up!  Each shelter has different guidelines for the length of time they will hold an animal.  It is very important that you check all possibilities everyday.

Listed below are the fees associated with claiming a lost pet from the shelter. If your animal is transported to the animal holding facility by Animal Services and Enforcement, an additional transport fee of $25.00 will be billed to you by Animal Services and Enforcement Department.

First impoundment.........................$30.00
Second .......................................$60.00
Third .........................................$150.00
Fourth .......................................$200.00
